Kayla Harrison Becomes Brand Ambassador for Hatashita Sports
Olympic Gold Medalist Develops Own Clothing Line
NEW YORK, N.Y. (June 25, 2015) – Hatashita Sports, the U.S. distributor for Mizuno judo products and owner of the FUJI Sports brand, announces it has signed a new multi-year agreement with Olympic Gold Medalist Kayla Harrison, making the judo world phenom the Brand Ambassador for Hatashita Sports and its growing FUJI Sports brand. In her new role, Harrison will represent Hatashita Sports in her competitive endeavors around the world, wearing Mizuno gis in judo competition. She and FUJI Sports are developing a new “FUJI by Kayla” signature line of fitness and casual apparel designed specifically for women.
One of the most recognizable female athletes in the world, the 24-year-old Harrison became the first American to win an Olympic Gold Medal in judo with her inspiring performance at the 2012 Olympic Summer Games in London. She is currently competing internationally, and recently regained her World #1 ranking following a gold medal performance in the Budapest Grand Prix event. Harrison is training for the 2016 Olympic Summer Games in Brazil where she will defend her Gold Medal performance.
“Hatashita Sports and FUJI Sports are the premier martial arts brands,” said Harrison. “For me, this partnership is a no brainer. If you want to beat the best, you have to train in the best gear. FUJI produces the highest quality gear and gis, and they’re also the most comfortable and athlete-friendly.”
The new FUJI by Kayla clothing line – to be introduced this fall – will include rash guards, yoga pants, a fitness bag, plus hats and headbands. Proceeds from the sale of FUJI by Kayla apparel will support her Fearless Foundation, which benefits survivors of child sexual abuse. As a young judo athlete, Harrison was abused by a coach, and now uses this foundation to support others.
“Kayla Harrison is a hard-working and strong woman of character,” said Lia Hatashita, President of Hatashita Sports and FUJI Sports. “She is a great role model for young women and females in martial arts, and we are so proud that she is our Brand Ambassador. We look forward to working with her and helping her accomplish great things on and off the mat.”
